ANOTHER wintery week has passed at Curlewis with raincoats and beanies being popular items of clothing on course this week. Many of our members and guests fought against freezing cold temperatures, some rain and gale-force wind this week at Curlewis!<\/p>\n
Speaking of the course it has been a credit to our ground staff on how well the course is playing despite the conditions course is continuing to make some nice improvements with the vast, re-sculptured waste area between the 10th and 11th holes is in play and has made the 10th hole a lot more daunting, especially for any golfer attempting to drive the green. Fingers crossed that coming into some nice spring weather will see the course in tip top shape for our open week in October and for our upcoming club championships. Also a big congratulations is in order for Judy Scarrott and Pat Malloch for coming up trumps in the ladies Margaret Jones match play final on Thursday. Their fantastic play saw them edge out Kaye Kelly and Debbie Mckee in a hotly contested final match. Eagles: Callum Stowe on the 10th on Sunday. Sunday August 5: Mixed PAR – 30 Players. Murray Chapman (14) +3 on countback from Rokewood visitor, Ashley Hadler (6) +3. Monday August 6: Mixed 4BBB Stableford \u2013 Nick Stone & Colin Stone won by 4 with 48 from Dean Armstrong & Rob Riley, 44. NTP: 8th \u2013 Trevor Pyke (2.4m), 17th \u2013 And Golden Shot Winner \u2013 Philip Bee (2.68m & $54) Tuesday August 7: Women 9 Holes Stableford: 21 Players \u2013 Pat Malloch 15 just got over the line from Kathleen Cummings with 14 countback.Wednesday August 8: Men Stableford: – In spite of the gale force winds and rain squalls in the afternoon 153 players started with most finishing. A) Doug Parkin (5) shot a winning score of 40 with Murray Condie (9) next best with 39. B) Paul Ryan (19) also scored 40 from John Dorgan (17) 39. C) Ian Wong (23) won on countback with 35 from Craig Robinson (22). Thursday August 9: -: Women Stableford: 42 Players – More strong winds and fast greens made for interesting golf. A) Elaine Cass (13) won with 36 from Sam Jones (11) 34. B) Betty Morgan (39) also scored 36 and won on countback from Joan Whitten (34). Saturday August 11: Men Stableford: 118 Players toughed it out on another windy and wet (at times) day. A) Will Johnston (8) made it look easy with +2. Next best was Brendan Hall (10) on +1.
