A LIBERAL Nationals Government will duplicate Barwon Heads Road from Settlement Road through to Lower Mt Duneed Road.<\/p>\n
As part of this project, the level crossing at Marshall on the Barwon Heads Road will be grade separated with a road over rail solution.<\/p>\n
This builds on the previous commitment to remove the traffic lights at Settlement and Barwon Heads roads as part of the Liberal Nationals\u2019 plan to remove 55 of Melbourne and Geelong\u2019s most dangerous and congested intersections.<\/p>\n
Opposition leader Matthew Guy said Labor had been ignoring Geelong for too long.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Liberal Nationals will get Geelong moving so commuters spend less time stuck in traffic and more time with their families and loved ones.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverywhere I travel in Geelong, locals tell me they want us to focus on crime, cost of living and congestion.\u201d<\/p>\n
South Barwon MP Andrew Katos said local traffic was getting worse and impacting people\u2019s daily lives and businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Armstrong Creek Growth Area is th largest in Geelong and will see 22,000 house lots and 65,000 people calling it home in the next 25 years, it is so important we plan for this growth.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether with this duplication, removal of level crossing, and fixing intersections at Marshalltown Road, Reserve Road and Boundary Road, we will not only make our drive safer \u2013 but also get traffic moving.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Liberal Nationals will invest $290 million for the duplication of Barwon Heads Road and the grade separation of the railway line.<\/p>\n
