MATTHEW Ryan has smashed it down the fairway, winning the Portarlington Carnival of Golf Bendigo Bank 36-Hole Event on Saturday, with a score of 148 off the stick.<\/p>\n
Ryan blitzed the course on the first 18 with a score of 73 and followed up with 75 in his second round.<\/p>\n
Ryan, a former member of Portarlington Golf Club, used not only his local knowledge but also the skills that he picked up playing golf recently at college level in America.<\/p>\n
Second place getter was former threetime Carnival of Golf Champion Robbie \u201cReal Deal\u201d White, who narrowly missed the win with a score of 150.<\/p>\n
Third place and B Grade was won by Stephen Duhau from Warrnambool, who made certain that his trip was worthwhile.<\/p>\n
Sunday\u2019s Portarlington Post Office\u2019s Mixed four-ball event saw 120 players grace the course, with Mark and Kathryn Petrie taking out the esteemed prize with a fantastic score of 46.<\/p>\n
The Carnival of Golf will continue to welcome around 1,000 golfers this week from across Australia to Portarlington.<\/p>\n
