THE Grovedale Tigers Football Netball Club has received a major boost thanks to an upgrade of the sporting facilities at Burdoo Reserve that were officially opened the weekend before last.<\/p>\n
The facilities include a new elevated coaches\u2019 box, a players\u2019 shelter and an equipment storage area.<\/p>\n
Corangamite federal member Sarah Henderson said the new modern facilities would encourage more people to get outside and keep active.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe elevated coaches\u2019 box will give visitors, volunteers and coaches a better view of the game and includes a new medics room to treat injured players. The new storage area will create some much-needed extra space for sporting equipment.<\/p>\n
\u201cMore than 300 players, including junior and senior footballers and netballers, use the sporting facilities at Burdoo Reserve each year. This project has been designed to continue to support the growth of sport in Geelong for years to come and is set to encourage a new generation of footballers to aspire to play in the AFL or Super Netball.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis project supported 26 jobs during construction and two ongoing roles, which means more people are spending and investing in their local community.\u201d<\/p>\n
This project was jointly funded by $100,000 from the Coalition Government – which wascommitted before the 2016 federal election \u2013 and $12,800 from Shed N Homes Geelong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
