ANGLESEA<\/strong>
\n\u00bb Still salmon being caught off local beaches

BARWON HEADS<\/strong>
\n\u00bb Reports of some nice mulloway being caught in the river
\n\u00bb Snapper are still being reported offshore
\n\u00bb Trevally catches reported in the river
\n\u00bb Salmon off the beaches still to be caught.<\/p>\n

TORQUAY<\/strong>
\n\u00bb Still some reports of a few King George whiting in close
\n\u00bb Pinkies offshore have been reported as well as a few odd snapper
\n\u00bb Reports of a few flathead offshore continue
\n\u00bb Salmon being caught off most beaches
\n\u00bb Gummy shark catches have also been reported

Q<\/strong>UEENSCLIFF<\/strong>
\n\u00bb The odd King George whiting, with flathead and squid reported at St Leonards
\n\u00bb In Clifton Springs, a few whiting, as well as flathead and squid are being caught
\n\u00bb Queenscliff is producing a few whiting, flathead, pinkies and squid
\n\u00bb The creek still is seeing reports of small trevally and salmon
\n\u00bb Swan Bay entrance has reports of a few squid and whiting
\n\u00bb Point Lonsdale is still seeing both trevally and salmon being caught
\n\u00bb The White Lady, whiting and squid reports continue
\n\u00bb Indented Head has flathead, King George whiting and squid.<\/p>\n

VICTORIA\u2019S biggest ever opening of a trout season is set for September 1, when 2,000 massive trout will be stocked at 11 familyfriendly sites near Eildon.<\/p>\n

Labor Upper House Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, said the combined weight of the enormous rainbow trout would be seven tonnes, making the release the biggest ever 24-hour stocking event in Fisheries\u2019 history.<\/p>\n

The Goulburn River between Molesworth and the Eildon Pondage will receive 1,500 trout, with 500 of the goliaths to be released into the Eildon Pondage itself,\u201d Ms Symes said.<\/p>\n

Half the trout will be released on Friday August 31 with the remainder through the morning of Saturday September 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe season-opening stocking bonanza will be complemented by the free Goulburn Fishing Festival the same day, which is part of the State Labor Government\u2019s Target One Million plan that\u2019s investing a record $46 million, including $9 million from fishing licence fees, to get more people fishing, more often,\u201d Ms Symes said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Festival promotes fishing in country Victoria and there will be fun things to do for the whole family from 10am till 4pm, including fireworks over the Eildon Pondage at 7pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m encouraging first time fishers and those experienced to come out and wet a line.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are keen to make a weekend of it, families can stay in some of the superb accommodation facilities we have in country Victoria and take in the sites of our beautiful towns.\u201d<\/p>\n

Free activities will include fishing clinics from experts, fly-fishing lessons tailored for women, prizes and raffles, and trout releases into the Pondage.<\/p>\n

The event will also include cooking demonstrations, fishing tackle displays, a jumping castle and face painting for the kids, the Fisheries education trailer and free guided tours of the Snobs Creek hatchery, which grows trout and native fish for the statewide stocking program.<\/p>\n

Victorian rivers and streams officially open to trout fishing at midnight on Friday August 31 2018. All lakes, including Lake Eildon and the Eildon Pondage, are open to trout fishing year-round.<\/p>\n

Closer to home the state Labor Government will also celebrate the opening of the trout season fishing in Ballarat at Lake Wendouree next Saturday September 1 with a free festival.<\/p>\n

Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford said the family-friendly event would have something fun for everyone from 10am until 4pm north of Windmill Drive on Lake Wendouree.<\/p>\n

The festival will include a free tour of the nearby Ballarat Fish Acclimatisation Society\u2019s trout hatchery and free fishing lesson for the kids with Fishcare, where all bait and tackle is provided.<\/p>\n

Food lovers can watch seafood cooking demonstrations making smoked trout, trout ceviche, pan fried fillets and smoked trout mousse, then enjoy tasting each of the dishes. There will be free sausages and freshly made coffee will be available for purchase from a mobile vendor.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, anyone with information relating to illegal fishing is encouraged to ring the illegal fishing reporting number on 13FISH (133474).<\/p>\n
