LOCAL filmmakers and scientists inspiring environmental action took the spotlight during an event hosted by Geelong Sustainability last week.<\/p>\n
Green Drinks, which was held at Beav\u2019s Bar in Geelong, featured talks from Leah Howes and Jarrod Board from Streamline Media and Simon Branigan from The Nature Conservancy.<\/p>\n
Vicki Perrett from Geelong Sustainability said the 50-strong group were very impressed by Streamline Media\u2019s new project \u201cConnecting your Bay.<\/p>\n
\u201cJarrod shared some of the technological challenges of trying to film 360 degrees underwater,\u201d Ms Perrett said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe showed part of the Rusty Swordfish video, which Jarrod told us was going to be featured in the upcoming Environmental Film Festival.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Perrett said few people realised the scale of devastation of the bay\u2019s shellfish reefs over last generations, nor their environmental importance.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo they were very interested to listen to Simon Branigan explain The Nature Conservancy\u2019s Project,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Ms Perrett said Geelong Sustainability was proud to auspice Streamline Media in a collaborative project funded through the Port Phillip Bay Fund.<\/p>\n
She said at Green Drinks last year, they showed Streamline Media\u2019s fabulous documentary film, Melbourne Down Under.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone who saw this short film was blown away by the spectacular colour and diversity of our marine environment right on our doorstep that could rival tropical reefs,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo it\u2019s very exciting that Streamline Media has been funded to produce more films and educational materials about our amazing bay.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
