BELLARINE MP Lisa Neville officially opened the recently refurbished Barwon Heads Hall.<\/p>\n
The $135,000 refurbishment was made possible thanks to a state government Community Support Fund grant of $110,000, while the Hall\u2019s committee of management contributed $25,000.<\/p>\n
The funding was used to replace the entire original floor including stumps, bearers, joists and boards of the hall which was built in 1938.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been very pleased to work with, and on behalf of, the hall\u2019s committee of management in firstly securing this funding and now opening the beautifully refurbished facility,\u201d Ms Neville said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI take this opportunity to congratulate the committee of management on their tireless work in not only raising funds for the refurbishment, but their ongoing work in protecting this important and historic asset.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Barwon Heads Hall is much loved and much used by locals and now with the refurbishment completed the hall will continue to be used by locals for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Barwon Heads Hall is widely used by the local community for markets, film nights, exercise classes, meetings, concerts and social functions.<\/p>\n
In more recent times the Barwon Heads war memorial was relocated to the hall\u2019s grounds and now hosts the annual Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services.<\/p>\n
The refurbishment of the hall has preserved a valuable heritage community asset for Barwon Head\u2019s residents for generations to come.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
