FORKFISH \u2013 The Adventures of Rusty Swordfish has been selected to screen at this year\u2019s Environmental Film Festival Australia.<\/p>\n
The short film created by Streamline Media and supported by a Sustainability Victoria grant, encourages the audience to look at the issue of marine litter in a new light by merging a satirical narrative with classic cinematography.<\/p>\n
Streamline Media director Jarrod Boord said his team was honoured to be recognised for this work, and that they were excited to introduce Rusty (played by actor Lyall Brooks) to a wider audience.<\/p>\n
Environmental Film Festival Australia brings together talented filmmakers who use their art to inspire, motivate and engage the audience across a diversity of environmental causes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were concerned that with so much going on in the \u2018waste\u2019 space some of the critical messaging was being lost,\u201d Mr Boord said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe wanted to create a novel piece that aimed to reengage and reinvent the marine debris conversation.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaking a comedy about a very important topic was a bold move, but this element is its strength, ensuring the audience keeps the conversation going long after the film has finished.\u201d<\/p>\n
Streamline Media, a local production company, sees projects such as \u201cForkfish\u201d as an opportunity to use the team\u2019s creative skills to give back to the community.<\/p>\n
Championing a diversity of environmental and social causes, they are constantly looking for ways to use their craft to develop innovative media products that document, educate and bridge the gap between conservation and community.<\/p>\n
They are seeking future funding opportunities to develop more Forkfish films to continue the conversation around this vital environmental message.<\/p>\n
They are also working on a local Port Phillip project called \u201cConnecting your Bay\u201d, which will produce a series of creative short films documenting the bay\u2019s ecological assets, identifying management priority areas and highlighting the roles environmental groups play in managing them.<\/p>\n
The Melbourne-based film festival runs between October 11 and 19.<\/p>\n
