FC LEOPOLD has welcomed news an elected state Liberal Government will contribute $270,000 towards the installation of lights at Estuary Reserve.<\/p>\n
President Mitch Vials said the installation of lighting at the playing pitch would be a huge step in the right direction for the club because it would allow the capacity to increase participation levels.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt present we have teams training in different places so with the installation of lighting we will finally be able to get our club training together at the one location, which will also no doubt make it easier on members, parents and club volunteers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe promise for funding from Brian McKiterick and the Liberal Party is fantastic for our club with lights clearly being required for us to grow and also operate effectively for our local community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vials said the club had also submitted a grant application requesting funding for lighting to the City of Greater Geelong and that they should receive an outcome in November.<\/p>\n
\u201cGiven our rapidly growing numbers, the next step after installation of lighting will be upgrades to the current facilities as at present the are not meeting the needs of our club, however, funding for this will also need to be sought,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Liberal candidate for Bellarine Brian McKiterick said as a supporter of the many teams that utilised Estuary Reserve, he was delighted to be able to broaden that support to a passionate group of young players.<\/p>\n
\u201cBellarine deserves quality sporting grounds and I am passionate about supporting the development of great sporting clubs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
