Ella Bourne, 27, was raised in Apollo Bay and has spent a lifetime in the water. Now, the avid surfer and beach lover is making waves in Hollywood.<\/p>\n
Having re-located to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, Ms Bourne has an impressive resume including coproducing and starring in new Aussie Talk show #Me4TV.<\/p>\n
\u201cI grew up in Apollo Bay and went to school there. I started acting at 14, attending Helen O\u2019Grady\u2019s Drama Academy and was lucky enough to do work experience at the Malthouse Theatre at 16,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat cemented the idea of pursuing acting long term. I went on to do a Bachelor of Arts (Drama) and while studying toured with a theatre company and then went on to try my hand in the film and TV industry.<\/p>\n
\u201cI signed with an agent and picked up a few fun roles while still studying.<\/p>\n
I ended up landing the lead role in a friend\u2019s debut film Therapy; it premiered at a film festival in New York, won Best International Comedy and I haven\u2019t looked back.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Bourne said she\u2019d been in LA since December when her manager Denise Hurley, the creator of #Me4TV, asked her to come on board the series.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe show features young Australian talent making a splash in LA where it\u2019s filmed and produced. I started out as co-producer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the show evolved I became one of the co-hosts along with Aussie actors Karlisha Hurley and Ky Baldwin. Karlisha is an experienced host and had worked with Ky before and Ben Crick, our \u2018token Brit\u2019 as we refer to him, was introduced to me through another actor friend.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were all different enough yet cohesive as an ensemble; we thought would make for a great dynamic in the new age talk show we were trying to create.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Bourne said a career as an actress can be challenging especially dealing with constant knock-backs.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the start, dealing with the rejection of not booking a job you auditioned for would get me down but once you accept that you are not right for every part, you become grateful for each audition.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou get to be working on your craft in the casting room because at the end of the day it\u2019s about being an artist and doing your craft.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Bourne said some of the best advice that was given to her came from her father who said she\u2019d already \u2018made it\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cI used to fret about \u2018making it\u2019 but my wise father told me, \u2018well this is it, you\u2019re doing it, one day you might just get
\npaid more and be more recognised, but you\u2019re already doing it\u2019. \u201cThat has been pivotal advice. Some days I need that reminder to get out of my own head when the whirlwinds of Hollywood get overwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n
