THE first Festival of Sport has been hailed as a resounding success, with as many as 14,000 people flocking to the Kardinia Park precinct for a weekend of free activities and fun.<\/p>\n
The event, held across almost all of the 22 hectares of the precinct \u2013 including all three ovals and the Kardinia Aquatic Centre \u2013 featured more than 30 sports clinics, stadium tours, and \u201ccome and try\u201d events.<\/p>\n
The Festival of Sport was a partnership between the state government, the City of Greater Geelong and the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust, and trust chief executive officer Michael Brown said on Sunday that the event had exceeded all expectations.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor a first effort, I couldn\u2019t be more thrilled.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmazing days, weather-wise; but we\u2019re just thrilled with the community attendance. We\u2019re stacking bags like there\u2019s no tomorrow.<\/p>\n
