AT just 24 years of age, Clifton Springs\u2019 Kye Olsen will celebrate a major milestone reaching his 10th anniversary working at Adventure Park later this month.<\/p>\n
In an era when millennials are stereotyped for jumping between jobs, the St Ignatius and Deakin University graduate said he was proud to be employed for this long, having started work at the park as a Ride Attendant at just 14.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe job has definitely brought me out of myself and I\u2019ve really developed my interpersonal skills working here,\u201d Kye said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a fun job where we get to make people happy and the hours are perfect for student schedules.<\/p>\n
\u201cI keep coming back because I really enjoy the people I work with and I love having a job where I get to be outdoors.\u201d<\/p>\n
With nearly 90 per cent of Adventure Park\u2019s team under 25 years of age, the organisation considers itself influential in shaping the early careers of a lot of young people in Geelong.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe take pride in knowing that we are a first job for a lot of our young crew,\u201d Adventure Park general manager Paul McConachy said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a very high retention rate and offer lots of opportunity for our recruits to develop into more senior roles.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr McConachy said it had been a delight to have Kye on board for 10 years and watch him develop as a person.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know we won\u2019t be able to hang on to him forever, but we\u2019ll certainly try to be the best organisation we can to attract and retain great people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
As Victoria\u2019s biggest water theme park prepares for the opening of its 23rd season on October 27, Adventure Park are recruiting pool lifeguards, first aid officers, cleaners, food and beverage and guest services staff for October through to April.<\/p>\n
