A QUARTET of not-for-profit groups have received their share of $10,000 through the first Portarlington Golf Club Community Contribution Fund.<\/p>\n
The Wallington Cricket Club, Portarlington Neighbourhood House, Clifton Springs Community Men\u2019s Shed and the Wilted Quilters were presented with their cheques during a celebratory morning tea on Monday.<\/p>\n
Portarlington Golf Club chief executive officer Ron Stockdale said the grants were open to not-forprofit community and sporting groups who provided services and facilities for people from Geelong and the Bellarine.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to congratulate all the people who applied for funding, they were great applications, and I congratulate those here today who will be the recipients of these funds.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been an arduous task because there are so many people out there in the community doing a fantastic job, so we did the best job we could picking the recipients.\u201d<\/p>\n
Secretary David Bond presented cheques to the successful recipients, starting with Wallington Cricket Club to cover the purchase of cricket gear and concentrate on increasing their membership.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey focus on families in financial hardship, they want to attract more women and girls to their club and they provide access for those with a disability.\u201d<\/p>\n
Portarlington Neighbourhood House received funding for the provision of a projector and sound equipment for their new premises.<\/p>\n
Clifton Springs Community Men\u2019s Shed received funding for a container for storage.<\/p>\n
The Wilted Quilters also received their cheque.<\/p>\n
The group is made up of women, who along with a number of creative pursuits, put their skills into making comfort cushions for patients who have undergone surgery, mainly for breast cancer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
