THOUSANDS of families converged at the Potato Shed on Sunday for the 10th anniversary of the free Family Fun Day.<\/p>\n
Inside The Shed there were lots of activities including the return of resident theatre group Theatre 3triple2 4 Kids as they performed Cinderella with their usual quirky twist.<\/p>\n
The fun continued with storytelling, dance, drumming and music workshops, puppet making, kids cooking classes and a finale in the theatre with Super Amazing Giant Girl.<\/p>\n
While outside the usual fun and frivolity was in abundance with face painting, air brush tattoos, jumping castles, Skate Park, sports activities and of course animals in the new mobile zoo.<\/p>\n
The outdoor stage was once again alive with local talent including students from Bellarine Secondary, St Ignatius, Kate Daley School Of Performing Arts and performances by Hooptopia and crowd favourites The Mik Maks.<\/p>\n
The Funky Mummies kept the crowd dancing and entertained as always with their boundless energy and fun.<\/p>\n
The Family Fun Day started back in 2009 after requests from the community and local schools for more performing arts activity for primary students on the Bellarine.<\/p>\n
The first year saw more than 2,000 people attend the Family Fun Day and 400 students participate in the workshops.<\/p>\n
This number has continued to grow with 8,000 now enjoying Family Fun Day.<\/p>\n
Each year following Family Fun Day the venue transforms with pupils from six local schools participating in a series of performing arts workshops and then having the thrill of performing what they have learnt to friends and family at the end of the day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
