This year, Patagonia is celebrating the 50th anniversary of an underground classic film Mountain of Storms and you can too on November 2 in Torquay.<\/p>\n
In 1968 five friends who called themselves fun hogs, set off on an 8000kilometre road trip to climb Cerro Fitz Roy in Patagonia, situated at the southern end of South America (shared by Argentina and Chile).<\/p>\n
Yvon Chouinard, Chris Jones, Lito Tejada-Flores, Dick Dorworth and Doug Tompkins documented the whole thing on a 16mm Bolex.<\/p>\n
Along the way they surfed undiscovered breaks, skied on sand and snow, and spent 31 days in a snow cave as they made a first ascent on the mountain.<\/p>\n
Fifty years later, this film, which defined a lifestyle and became an underground classic, is in its first wide release.<\/p>\n
Head along to the special screening on November 2 at Patagonia Torquay located at 116 Surf Coast Highway, doors open for refreshments at 6pm followed by the film at 7pm.<\/p>\n
