CHILDREN and adults alike gave sailing a go as part of National Discover Sailing Day 2018 at Portarlington Sailing Club on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The aim of the day was to encourage people to find out how safe, fun, accessible and affordable sailing could be.<\/p>\n
Portarlington Sailing Club instructor Alastair Conder said the day was a fantastic opportunity for them to welcome the community to their club and sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a great day with kids and adults keen to give sailing a go as well as high interest to join our Learn to Sail program in December.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the day offered participants the chance to go for a short sail with an experienced sailor, enjoy the club\u2019s facilities, and find out about the great sailing experiences available.<\/p>\n
\u201cPortarlington Sailing Club is an accredited Discover Sailing Centre, offering Learn to Sail courses for young and old.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe whole family can get involved \u2013 kids as young as five can enjoy a sail with a parent or guardian.\u201d<\/p>\n
National Discover Sailing Day 2018 is part of Yachting Australia\u2019s Discover Sailing program, which was launched in 2012 and is designed to\u00a0encourage more people to get in boats, out on the water and enjoying the benefits of sailing.<\/p>\n
