THE Surf Coast Shire says its latest road nmanagement activity report shows high levels of achievement in meeting repair and inspection objectives.<\/p>\n
Councillors resolved to endorse the road management activity report for the July- September quarter at their October meeting.<\/p>\n
The report detailed inspection timelines, maintenance activities including dust suppression, line marking and grading, capital works, safety improvements including blackspot funded upgrades and education and safety awareness.<\/p>\n
It concluded that the council is performing well against service objectives outlined in its Road Management Plan (RMP).<\/p>\n
Key findings were:
\n94 per cent of inspections arising from customer contacts completed within RMP timelines; 100 per cent of programmed inspections by Council completed within RMP timelines;<\/p>\n
99.5 per cent of defect repairs completed within RMP timelines; and,<\/p>\n
99.3 per cent of completed tasks to repair defects outside the scope of the RMP completed
\nwithin service level agreement deadlines.<\/p>\n
Shire mayor David Bell said he welcomed the latest activity update.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere has been a lot of public commentary questioning the state of some of our roads and Council\u2019s maintenance programs, but the findings laid out in this report reveal a distinctly different story.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very happy with our existing programs and maintenance response findings and as always urge people who know of roads requiring attention to let us know.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we don\u2019t know about it, it doesn\u2019t exist to us.\u201d<\/p>\n
The report also noted the council\u2019s budget increase of $150,000 this financial year for an Unsealed Roads Action Plan.<\/p>\n
