BELLARINE Secondary College students received a crash course in politics last week when two Labor party representatives dropped by.<\/p>\n
Deputy Leader of the Opposition Tanya Plibersek and Labor Candidate for Corangamite Libby Coker gave a short speech to students on female representation in politics and the general role of federal government.<\/p>\n
The visit came as Labor pledged to deliver an extra $14 billion for public schools over the next decade, with $3.3 billion extra flowing in the first three school years alone.<\/p>\n
\u201cLabor\u2019s record school funding will ensure Corangamite public schools get the funding they need to give students more individual attention, and more help with the basics such as reading, writing, maths, and science,\u201d Ms Coker said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will allow public schools to offer a broader\u00a0range of subjects including languages, coding, the arts, and vocational education.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it will support our outstanding teachers to continue to update their skills.\u201d Ms Coker said.<\/p>\n
The extra $15.2 million for public schools in Corangamite will include $1.2 million for Grovedale College, $1 million for Surf Coast Secondary College, $1 million for Bellarine Secondary College, $850,000 for Leopold Secondary College and $650,000 for Drysdale Primary School.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
