WORKS are under way on Indented Heads\u2019 much loved and used community hall.<\/p>\n
Expected to be finished by Christmas, the works will remove and replace the asbestos roofing and external walls of the hall, which is managed by Bellarine Bayside.<\/p>\n
All gutters and downpipes will also be replaced and drainage upgraded, and external cladding replaced.<\/p>\n
Bellarine MP Lisa Neville announced a state\u00a0government grant of $250,000 towards the upgrade of the roof in September, and Bellarine Bayside is also contributing $250,000 so that the entire redevelopment can occur in one build.<\/p>\n
Bellarine Bayside chief executive officer John Nankervis said given the generous state government grant, all the works would be able to be done over the next four weeks, and were in keeping with the Heritage requirements of the site.<\/p>\n
Ms Neville said that the hall over the decades had been the home to many community groups, and that this was still the case to the current day.<\/p>\n
Groups such as the Indented Head Boat Club and Yacht Club, the St Leonards Film Society,\u00a0walking group \u201cLocomote\u201d, the Greek Orthodox Association, and importantly the Indented Head Community Association use the hall regularly.<\/p>\n
In addition, it is used for yoga and pilate classes, local social functions and community meetings.<\/p>\n
\u201cI commend the Indented Head Community Association, other user groups and Bellarine Bayside on their ongoing work in ensuring the hall continues to be the focal point of town life,\u201d Ms Neville said.<\/p>\n
