LIBERAL Candidate for Bellarine Brian McKiterick has refused claims he will halt construction of the Drysdale Bypass if his government wins the state election later this month.<\/p>\n
Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville said Mr McKiterick had on a number of occasions stated that if elected he would stop construction of the bypass to again look at the intersection of Grubb and Portarlington roads.<\/p>\n
Ms Neville said that at the candidate\u2019s forum in Drysdale on Saturday, Mr McKiterick repeated his promise to stop construction of the bypass. But Mr McKiterick said the Liberal Party would not cease the current works taking place for the Drysdale Bypass.<\/p>\n
However, Mr McKiterick said he felt it was important to note how poorly managed the project had been and some of the issues still surrounding the project, despite it beginning a few weeks out from an election.<\/p>\n
He said the Drysdale Bypass Project had been on City of Greater Geelong\u2019s plans since 1983, and that the Liberals were the first ones to pledge funds for the bypass project in 2014, before that election, and Labor matched it shortly after.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
