THINGS could not have gone better for Torquay\u2019s very own India Robinson last week.<\/p>\n
Not only did she become a voting citizen of Australia (she turned 18) but she won her first ever WSL qualifying series event at Phillip Island, taking out the Phillip Island Pro presented by Bass Coast\u00a0Shire.<\/p>\n
The event from the outset looked like Robinson\u2019s to lose as she breezed through her heats dropping excellent scores from the quarter-finals onwards.<\/p>\n
That was topped off with an 8.55 and 9.50 in the final putting her competitor in a combination situation.<\/p>\n
Phillip Island has been a big part of India\u2019s progression in surfing having won her Australian\u00a0title there just over two short years ago.<\/p>\n
So there is no wonder she had the confidence to go all the way in this event as she has performed to the highest level in the area before.<\/p>\n
This result catapults India into 24th position on the WSL WQS Women\u2019s ranking. This puts her in a great position to have a serious crack at making the top seven next year and qualifying for the WCT!<\/p>\n
There is plenty to celebrate for India rounding out the year and she will be celebrating with her club mates at the Torquay Boardriders Club end-ofyear presentation held at Jan Juc cricket club this Saturday 17 November 2018.<\/p>\n
Tickets are still available for the event, it\u2019s 20 dollars for adults and 10 dollars for kids.<\/p>\n
The infamous local band 3 humps will be putting on a show and the club can\u2019t wait to celebrate another successful year.<\/p>\n
