THE Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre (BASC) celebrated its 10th birthday at the weekend with games, prizes and family entertainment.<\/p>\n
Held on Sunday, kids were kept entertained with a visit from Webstar, face painting, games and more.<\/p>\n
Plus, there was also a mega birthday cake, pool activities, a jumping castle, mini golf and DJ Ali spinning the beats.<\/p>\n
The local facility officially opened its doors for the first time on Sunday December 14, 2008.<\/p>\n
City of Greater Geelong mayor Bruce Harwood said the birthday party was a great opportunity for families to come along and enjoy plenty of fun activities for free.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was also an important opportunity to take a moment to celebrate the successes of the past decade at the Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre,\u201d Mr Harwood said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBASC has truly established itself as a vital health and social hub for the Bellarine community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith 500,000 visits to the centre last year, the programs and facilities are continually proving to be more and more popular and well-used by the Bellarine community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we take a moment to reflect, as council we are always looking to the future as well, and this 10th birthday happens to coincide with the completion of our recent Places and Spaces survey.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe results from the community-wide survey will now help us to gain some a clarity about how this facility, and others, are used and what the community wants in the future to better suit their needs.<\/p>\n
