{"id":18072,"date":"2018-11-28T12:38:39","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T12:38:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=18072"},"modified":"2018-11-28T19:42:54","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T19:42:54","slug":"trek-for-a-good-cause","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/trek-for-a-good-cause\/","title":{"rendered":"Trek for a good cause"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>REGISTRATIONS are now open for the 2019 Surf Coast Trek which will be returning April 6 for its\u00a0fourth year; the trek will see close to 1000 trekkers take on 40km from Aireys Inlet to Torquay.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will take on the personal, physical and often emotional challenge of trekking through the iconic Surf Coast\u2019s Ironbark forests, across exposed cliff tops, amongst wild flowers, and across long sandy beaches from Aireys Inlet to Torquay.<\/p>\n<p>Making the 2019 Surf Coast Trek a truly\u00a0memorable experience, two lucky trekkers (and a friend) will find themselves winging it out of Avalon Airport, heading to Kula Lumper, Malaysia simply by registering before Friday December 14.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the Trek\u2019s physical challenge, each trekker also takes on a fundraising challenge; with the Trek supporting the incredible work throughout the Geelong\/Surf Coast region of the Give Where You Live and Kids Plus Foundations. Over the three years the event has raised over $700,000 and serves as the biggest fundraiser for the two foundations.<\/p>\n<p>Kids Plus provides specialist physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology services for children with cerebral palsy and similar neuro-developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The Give Where You Live Foundation delivers their own strategic initiative and funds community programs that are aimed at alleviating disadvantage throughout the Geelong\/G21 region.<\/p>\n<p>The Surf Coast Trek is proudly supported by Avalon Airport, Bay 93.9, K rock, Geelong Port, TAC, Coulter Roache, O\u2019Malley Fitness, APCO, WorkSafe Victoria, the Gordon, Lake Imaging and Hello World Travel Geelong West.<\/p>\n<p>Registrations for individual trekkers and for those trekking in teams, pairs and as a foursome are now open at surfcoasttrek.com.au.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REGISTRATIONS are now open for the 2019 Surf Coast Trek which will be returning April 6 for its\u00a0fourth year; the trek will see close to 1000 trekkers take on 40km from Aireys Inlet to Torquay.
