TWO Geelong Deakin University students are teaming up to raise funds for an Australian\u00a0organisation which advocates for girl\u2019s education in Sierra Leone and Uganda.<\/p>\n
This month, students Samantha Aver and Lily Thornley have chosen to campaign for One Girl \u2013 Do It In A Dress, a not-for profit organisation based in Melbourne.<\/p>\n
Founded in April 2009, One Girl works in partnership with Do It In A Dress to provide young girls living in some of the world\u2019s poorest communities access to an education by offering philanthropic support.<\/p>\n
With over 130 million girls around the world denied an education, both Samantha and Lily feel passionately about making a difference by participating in the challenge.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne Girl raises much needed funds to give girls in Sierra Leone and Uganda access to an education,\u201d the students said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout November, we will be collecting as many donations as possible and teaming up with local businesses to host events to raise money.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the conclusion of their fundraising, Sammy and Lily will each go skydiving clothed in a school dress provided by Do It In A Dress to raise awareness.<\/p>\n
The pair have raised over $1,000 so far.<\/p>\n
