ON SUNDAY November 25, Torquay Music returned to Boardriders Bar 61 to perform their end of year concert.<\/p>\n
With roughly 40 local school-aged children performing using a range of instruments including guitar, bass, piano and drums, the crowd of 150 people swarmed the Surf Coast Highway venue at 3pm to indulge in what\u2019s now known as \u201cSunday Sessions\u201d.<\/p>\n
Owner of Torquay Music Sarah Barge said it was incredible to see students perform comfortably in front of a large audience, a credit to the rising level of talent amongst children from the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were a lot of nerves before they took the stage, but they were all really pumped to get up and play once they got a taste for it,\u201d she said. \u201cThey felt like rock stars.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bar 61 played host to the Christmas concert for the second year in a row, donating the space to show their support for the local business and the opportunities it provides to kids with a passion for music. \u201cBar 61 have been amazing in what they allow us to play,\u201d Sarah said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we\u2019re a predominantly local business, it means the space is more open to parents of students and other guests. It\u2019s just a great vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n
Torquay Music offers a range of private and group music lessons in guitar, bass, ukulele, piano and drums.<\/p>\n
Each lesson goes for 30 minutes and is held at Spring Creek Community House and at the Torquay Music studio.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
