THE fallout from the Victorian state election continues, with Corangamite Liberal federal member Sarah Henderson announcing she will be holding a listening tour across her electorate to hear local concerns.<\/p>\n
The next federal election must be held no later than\u00a0May, and the huge swing to Labor in Victoria has made many federal Liberal MPs worried about the implications of a similar swing not just in this state but across Australia.<\/p>\n
Corangamite is a seat particularly at risk for the Liberals, as the recent redistribution of electoral boundaries has cut the estimated two-party preferred margin to just 0.03 percent, making it the Liberals\u2019 most marginal seat.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued last week soon after the Victorian election, Ms Henderson said the election was \u201cfought predominantly on state issues\u201d (a position taken by many federal Liberal MPs) but that \u201cvoters continue to send us a clear message \u2013 focus on our issues and concerns, not yourselves\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will be re-doubling my efforts to reach out to every local community, listen to concerns and take appropriate action wherever possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the coming weeks and months, I will be conducting a \u2018Community First\u201d listening tour across all parts of the Corangamite electorate\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cAcross such a large regional electorate, I have always taken the approach that every community matters.\u201d<\/p>\n
