BARWON Heads Football Club\u2019s newest coach says he is looking forward to an exciting but also challenging year ahead when he helps take the reins of the senior men\u2019s team.<\/p>\n
Troy Mitchell, 50, who comes to the club with a long and distinguished playing and coaching CV, will co-coach with Mitch Herbison.<\/p>\n
Troy said he was excited about being a part of the town and community, and that Barwon Heads was a unique place and the football club had a strong sense of community and passion to succeed.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone I have had the chance to meet and be involved with have been very helpful and you sense their commitment,\u201d Troy said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe club is fortunate that the people involved have done a terrific job and hopefully myself and some of the new people now involved can help the club to achieve its ultimate goals.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want the club to both improve and progress \u2013 to stay successful and be an enjoyable environment for all involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my short time, I can already feel a strong sense of desire to be successful and maintain a competitive edge over our rivals.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pre-season started on Monday November 19, with 13 sessions planned before Christmas.<\/p>\n
Troy and Mitch are hoping to achieve a strong understanding of the playing group both as a unit and individually.<\/p>\n
They said it was an opportunity to start to make a connection and see the strengths and weaknesses of the group and the player, and it was also a time for them to feel out and understand how the other coaches and support staff work and operated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
