MORE than 300 free activities will be delivered during Summer by the Sea 2019, with bookings now open.<\/p>\n
The program runs from January 2-26 across the Surf Coast and Bellarine, giving people the chance to discover the amazing coastal and marine environments locally or where holidaying.<\/p>\n
Program highlights include shore snorkels in Queenscliff, canoeing in Anglesea, a fossil safari in Aireys Inlet and several rockpool rambles at a variety of local beaches.<\/p>\n
\u201cEach year, Summer by the Sea teaches thousands of Victorians who visit or live on our coastline about local marine environments and how to look after the coast,\u201d Coastcare Victoria co-ordinator Bec Cross said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn 2019 we are providing more inclusive activities and we\u2019re encouraging diversity through the Summer by the Sea program, allowing people who are Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) to take part.<\/p>\n
\u201cSummer by the Sea offers activities for people of all ages, from discovering all that Swan Bay ha to offer in Queenscliff, to learning how to surf in Anglesea; there\u2019s something for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said the program was a great way for all Victorians to explore the amazing marine species and habitats that were on their doorstep, and to learn how they could better protect our coastal environments.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople with a disability who wish to participate in Summer by the Sea are encouraged to contact Coastcare Victoria via our website to discuss their requirements to take part in activities.<\/p>\n
