{"id":18916,"date":"2018-12-26T15:07:10","date_gmt":"2018-12-26T15:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=18916"},"modified":"2018-12-27T04:45:06","modified_gmt":"2018-12-27T04:45:06","slug":"alls-well-that-ends-well-for-thompson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/alls-well-that-ends-well-for-thompson\/","title":{"rendered":"ALL\u2019S WELL THAT ENDS WELL FOR THOMPSON"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Apollo Bay P-12 College\u2019s Christie\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Thompson is among teachers\u00a0<\/strong><strong>chosen from across Australia for\u00a0<\/strong><strong>the 2019 Bell Shakespeare Regional\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Teacher Mentorship (RTM).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The RTM gives teachers from regional, rural and remote Australian schools a fully-funded, year-long mentorship with the Bell Shakespeare Company.<\/p>\n<p>Selected from as far afield as Nhulunbuy (NT), Bunbury (WA) and Herberton (QLD), the teachers will travel to Bell Shakespeare\u2019s Sydney headquarters for specialist training in teaching Shakespeare, collaborate and network with teachers from other regions, and see the company\u2019s production of The Miser at Sydney Opera House, starring John Bell.<\/p>\n<p>On their return to school, teachers receive ongoing support from Bell Shakespeare artists and staff, as well as access to in-school and in-theatre programs to support their continued learning.<\/p>\n<p>Apollo Bay P-12 College principal Tiffany Holt said the school was ecstatic with Ms Thompson\u2019s achievements, having sourced and pursued the scholarship herself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first time one of our teacher\u2019s has been accepted into this program. She\u2019s one of only 30 others from across Australia chosen,\u201d Ms Holt said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of the reason for the program is to try and increase the involvement of Shakespeare within our curriculum. Christie has a personal interest in Shakespeare and that was also the motivation to bring that into the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey contacted Christie directly and we all celebrated. This is a result of her drive and initiative and that\u2019s fantastic.
