ASPIRING junior cricketers from Barwon Heads Cricket Club (BHCC) showcased their skills in front of a crowd of more than 74,000 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Boxing Day.<\/p>\n
The kids took to the ground during the lunch break on day one of the third test between Australia and India.<\/p>\n
On arguably the biggest day of the Australian sporting calendar, the eight boys showed off the skills they had developed learning cricket through the BHCC Woolworths Junior Blasters program.<\/p>\n
Each cricketer rotated through three drills, focusing on the fundamentals of cricket; batting bowling and fielding.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be part of the Boxing Day Test was such a special experience for the boys,\u201d club president Paul Summers said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m sure they\u2019ll remember it for the rest of their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tailored to develop fundamental cricket skills, foster enjoyment and fun, the Woolworth\u2019s Junior Blasters program is specifically developed for girls and boys 5-7 years of age.<\/p>\n
Barwon Heads Cricket Club has 25 Junior Blasters who practice their cricket on Friday nights over the summer season.<\/p>\n
Junior Blasters provides a pathway for young cricketers through to underage and senior cricket.<\/p>\n
Barwon Heads sits third in the BPCA A1 division and will host the semi-finals and grand finals of the BPCA 20\/20 competition on Monday January 28, as part of the Australia Day long weekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
