LEOPOLD\u2019s Chris Hall is on a mission to help find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).<\/p>\n
Last month, Chris was awarded a Pride of Australia Medal for living a life full of passion and commitment to causes and prevailing through physical adversity.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The awards, now in their 14th year, highlight the tireless work of parents, friends and strangers to make Australia a better place for everyone.<\/p>\n
Confined to a wheelchair (not MND related), Chris has already raised $25,000 for MND Victoria and has decided to wheel 50km a month around his area in a bid to raise more.<\/p>\n
Chris\u2019 inspiration to try and help find a cure came from a work colleague, Jenny, who passed away from MND in November 2015.<\/p>\n
\u201cJenny is the main reason I am doing this,\u201d Chris said.<\/p>\n
\u201cJenny was a nurse at Barwon Health and I got to know her fairly well.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery year when flu vaccinations came around Jenny would always have a good chat with me and see how I was doing.<\/p>\n
\u201cJenny unfortunately passed away after a 14-month battle with this horrible disease.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter I found out that Jenny had MND, I thought to myself \u2018what is MND?\u2019 so I did some research and I was horrified to learn there was no treatment or no cure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chris is constantly coming up with new ways to raise money, and is a big supporter of Rock Off
\nMND, a live music event at Deakin University in March that aims to raise much-needed funds for MND research and to increase community awareness.<\/p>\n
