INTERNATIONAL Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) was marked last month with the National Awards for Disability Leadership.<\/p>\n

The new-format awards were co-hosted in several locations around Australia via webcast so that people with disability, no matter where they were located, could participate.<\/p>\n

The awards are an initiative of the Disability Leadership Institute (DLI), Disabled People\u2019s Organisations Australia (DPOA) and the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO).<\/p>\n

The 2018 winners were: \u2022 Janice Slattery for the Lesley Hall Award for
\nLifetime Achievement \u2022 Rosemary Kayess for the Rights Activism award \u2022 Sexual Lives & Respectful Relationships LGBTIQ
\nproject for the Inclusion award \u2022 Client Voice Project Group for the Innovation award \u2022 Jessica Walton for the Social Impact award \u2022 Anthony Mulholland for the Change Making
\naward, and \u2022 Sarah Houbolt for The Arts award.<\/p>\n

Assistant Minister for Social Services, Housing and Disability Services and Corangamite federal member was part of the awards from the webcast at Parliament House, and said it was an honour to join in the celebrations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Morrison Government contributed $30,000 in sponsorship to assist with the costs of running these awards.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe national awards, which were led by the disability sector for people with disability, are a very\u00a0important way to recognise and champion people with disability who are leaders in their field.<\/p>\n
