CORANGAMITE federal member Sarah Henderson has encouraged students in the Geelong region to apply for a Governmentfunded scholarship to study a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) course.<\/p>\n
Ms Henderson said the Morrison Government is increasing the number of scholarships available through the Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships program and applications were now open.<\/p>\n
\u201cScholarships of up to $18,000 are available to help students with the costs of studying STEM at university or a Vocational Education and Training (VET) institution.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of these scholarships could help a promising student realise their potential and get a STEM education that will open a world of future possibilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cNew guidelines will also make it easier for drought-affected students to apply, including families receiving the Farm Household Allowance.<\/p>\n
\u201cI encourage every student in Corangamite who wants to study STEM to apply for the program.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Morrison Government has committed $58.1 million for more than 3,150 scholarships for regional and remote students.<\/p>\n
The first round of the scholarship program has already helped 504 regional and remote students to start study in 2018.<\/p>\n
Applications close on February 1 and offers will be made on February 11.<\/p>\n
