THE More to Explore app, which helps the community to get out and explore Victoria\u2019s state forests and forest parks, is now available on Android devices.<\/p>\n
Barwon South West assistant chief fire officer Andrew Morrow said there had never been a better time to discover our state forests and forest parks, and the More to Explore app would help Victorians connect with nature in new ways.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the Barwon South West region, this includes some great places to visit and enjoy such as the Otway Forest Park in the Otways, and the Cobboboonee Forest Park, Mt Clay State Forest, Annya State Forest in the far south west.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe release of the More to Explore app for Android devices coincides with an update to the already available Apple version.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe app provides comprehensive information to help people use and enjoy Victoria\u2019s 3.1 million hectares of state forest and its network of approximately 400 visitor sites and 250 recreational trails.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been designed to help users navigate when out in the forest to find trails and sites that suit their needs and interests.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the app allowed people to plan their visit before even leaving the house, using the search function to find the ideal site or trail within state forests and forest parks.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf visiting areas likely to be out of mobile phone range or with limited mobile reception \u2013 explorers can download maps onto a mobile device, to enable offline navigation and location on the map using the device\u2019s GPS function.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe new and improved More to Explore app includes enhanced search functions, upgraded road information, new integrated capabilities for offline maps and an emergency location function.\u201d<\/p>\n
The More to Explore app is available for iPhones from the App Store and for Androids in the Google Play store.<\/p>\n
