DEAKIN University has made more than 6,660 offers to prospective students in last week\u2019s first round through the Victorian Tertiarity Admissions Centre (VTAC) system.<\/p>\n
The university\u2019s vice-chancellor Professor Jane den Hollander said nursing had held its position as the number one choice among VTAC applicants, while arts maintained its spot at number two.<\/p>\n

She said Deakin\u2019s School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences had been ranked, for the third year in a row, the best in Australia, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) rankings of Sport Science Schools and Departments.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccordingly, our Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science continues to be among the most popular with our prospective students this year. \u201cDeakin is continuing to grow, with numbers now at more than 61,000, up from 39,000 students in 2010.<\/p>\n

She said Deakin was the first Australian university to specialise in online learning and it was pleasing to see the growth of the university\u2019s cloud-based study option. \u201cWe have this year made offers to 214 students who want to study in the Cloud. Overall numbers have grown from 10,000 in 2010 to more than 15,000.<\/p>\n
