BLUES icon and Clifton Springs musician Chris Wilson has died following a battle with pancreatic cancer.<\/p>\n
Wilson, who has played a major part in Australian music for over 40 years, announced his diagnosis with the disease last July and died last Wednesday January 16, aged in his early 60s.<\/p>\n
His longstanding career has been warmly remembered in the days following his passing, with many taking to social media to offer their condolences to his wife, Sarah Carroll, and their two children.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re deeply saddened by the news that Chris Wilson has lost his battle with cancer and passed away yesterday,\u201d the Nightjar Festival shared on Thursday January 17.<\/p>\n
\u201cChris was a great supporter of the Nightjar Festival playing for us on numerous occasions and always a crowd favourite. \u201cOur deepest condolences to his family at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
In August 2018, a charity concert was hosted at the Corner Hotel to raise money for \u201cthe gentleman of Australian blues\u201d family.<\/p>\n
Artists Barb Waters, Barry Palmer, Steve Lucas, Kerri Simpson, Ash Davies, Jerome Smith, Tim Rogers, Matt Dwyer, Shane O\u2019Mara, Dave Hogan, Jo Jo Smith and DJ Max Crawdaddy performed.<\/p>\n
