In a bid to continue supporting animal rescue groups and projects across the country, PETstock\u2019s charity arm PETstock Assist has announced it will donate $30,000 to an Ocean Grove veterinary clinic that works with vulnerable pet owners in the community.<\/p>\n
Distributed through its end of financial year grant program, Cherished Pets will receive the donation apart of PETstock Assist\u2019s $1 million commitment to help struggling pets and families around Australia.<\/p>\n
Breaking down barriers for the elderly, people with disabilities and victims of domestic violence, Cherished Pets will use the grant to deliver its programs which are designed to assist those who are finding it difficult to take care of their pets.<\/p>\n
Cherished Pets founder Alicia Kennedy said a significant benefit of the clinic\u2019s services is the peace of mind it brings to clients who worry about their pets. \u201cSometimes these owners refuse to look after themselves for fear of what will happen to their pet,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are becoming an intrinsic part of the health care model in this space, while ensuring our cherished pets
\nget the love and care they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Kennedy also noted vet costs have increased by 44 per cent in the last 10 years, accounting for a pet affordability crisis amongst marginalised pet owners.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also find that without support, pets are missing out on the care they need, and suffering as a result,\u201d
\nshe added.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are there to support both pets and people through these vulnerable life phases.\u201d<\/p>\n
PETstock Assist charity and events co-ordinator Jessica Guilfoyle said the grant program is the biggest
\nin the company\u2019s history, allowing the foundation to make a significant and lasting impact.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re looking to fund organisations that assist with abused, abandoned and neglected pets through rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming initiatives and organisations that support those who require assistance through companion animal projects and disaster assistance,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
