The Torquay Hotel Series continue a phenomenal run of live acts serving up their own surf and psych-rock mini-festival January 26, headlined by iconic Aussie pub rock legends Cosmic Psychos.<\/p>\n
A Nice Day to go to the pub will feature the legendary Psychos supported by Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, Bad\/\/Dreems, The Pretty Littles, The Living Eyes, Vintage Crop \u2013 as well as Jelly Mammoth, Bitch Diesel, Warped, Piston Peaches and DJ Moluck and Wallet Inspector.<\/p>\n
Cosmic Psychos\u2019 guitarist John \u201cMacka\u201d McKeering said the Brisbane-based band was looking forward to the gig, which he hoped would see crowds make a \u201cracket\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no ritual before a show, we just sit around and talk over a couple of beers that\u2019s about what happens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we\u2019re making a new record, we get together and do a bit of work; if we\u2019re playing songs we\u2019ve done a few times we don\u2019t practice them as much so it keeps them fresh.\u201d<\/p>\n
When he\u2019s not on stage. Macka said, he works with his wife in tape transcription.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love jumping around on stage but I\u2019m 46 so I probably don\u2019t jump around like an idiot as much as I used to, I probably could \u2013 I\u2019m just lazy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The trio of Ross Knight, Dean Muller and Macka have toured around Europe and America and are readying for another tour of the UK this April.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s so many gigs I\u2019ve loved. A couple of years ago in Germany we were at a festival that translates to \u2018The Bacon and Eggs Festival\u2019 and we started playing to about 10 people. When we finished, there was quite a few.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe sucked them in and I think it\u2019s because Ross has a lot of energy, he\u2019s very energetic and Dean\u2019s a great drummer. I don\u2019t really know what I do, but I do what I do and I just think we have energy.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said that back in the day, they\u2019d tour for months at a time but now as they\u2019ve got older and factor in jobs, partners and kids, the tours were less extensive, but they still get away.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re going over to Europe and playing in the UK, Scotland, Denmark, Holland, Germany and Belgium.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been playing in bands since 1986. For me it\u2019s a release and it\u2019s fun to do especially when you\u2019re working with good people. It\u2019s not a full-time thing for me, you wouldn\u2019t want it to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
Macka said the Cosmic Psychos had played quite a few gigs now in Geelong and were looking forward to drawing a similar crow to the Torquay Hotel.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a good crowd down there and good people. It\u2019s good stuff hopefully we\u2019ll have fun and so will everyone that\u2019s there. That\u2019s the goal.\u201d<\/p>\n
