In celebration of all things arts, crafts and gardening, the Aireys Inlet Community Garden is hosting its third Art in the Garden event, which will see local artists and visitors come together on Saturday January 26 (Australia Day).<\/p>\n
The free event will give visitors and locals a chance to spend the day among visual art, craft, music and jewelry surrounded by nature at Aireys Inlet community garden.<\/p>\n
With paintings hung on screens nestled in herb and vegetable gardens, craft tables hugging pathways, sausage sizzles and painting opportunities for children, the day will be a crowd pleaser.<\/p>\n
Ninety-three-year-old Betty Watson, one of the stall holders, creates and sells hanging mobiles, mice, owls, balls and small purses to raise money for the Royal Children\u2019s Hospital. Having been involved in the event since it first began in 2017, Betty attracts a crowd for her crafted goods as well as her tales of the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cI look forward to Art in the Garden every year,\u201d she said. \u201cIt gives me a chance to catch up with friends and meet new people are interested in the Aireys Inlet community<\/p>\n
activities and most importantly provide an opportunity for me to sell my crafts and raise money for the Royal Children\u2019s Hospital. At 93 years young, I feel happy to make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n
Community garden co-ordinator Gretel Lamont highlighted the collaborative nature between the art community and the garden. \u201cThe talent and creativity is amazing and showcasing art in our garden setting is a win-win,\u201d she said. Art in the Garden will be held on January 26 from 10am until 3pm in the garden at 2 Fraser Drive, Aireys Inlet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
