COMMUNITY groups will soon be able to use a range of flexible facilities at the new $15.24 million Armstrong Creek East Community Hub, the largest of its kind in the district.<\/p>\n
The City of Greater Geelong is now calling for expressions of interest from organisations to use the space which features nine flexible areas, including multi-purpose rooms, meeting spaces and a playroom.<\/p>\n
Acting mayor Peter Murrihy said the facility was the first of its kind in Armstrong Creek and will be the biggest one built in Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe new hub will provide an increasing number of residents in the area with access to a wide range of health, childcare and community services,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would like to see a variety of groups regularly using the space and contributing to a rich community life in Armstrong Creek.\u201d<\/p>\n
Local crime prevention group Neighbourhood Watch Armstrong Creek and Surrounds indicated the group will apply to use the space to host community events including information days and presentations by Victoria Police.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe group was formed in 2018 by a group of neighbours who feel strongly that Armstrong Creek is a great place to work, live and play,\u201d said group member Michelle Manning Hutson.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe hub will allow us to strengthen connections with other community groups.\u201d<\/p>\n
Receiving $7.24 million of funding from the Victorian Government, the COGC has contributed an additional $8 million to the hub\u2019s establishment.<\/p>\n
Available for groups to occupy from March, applications are being received until Friday February 8 at 5pm.<\/p>\n
The hub is located on Central Boulevard next to the Armstrong Creek School, which opened in 2018.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
