LADIES who took part in Drysdale Soccer Club\u2019s first soccer mums session last week have given the program two thumbs up.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ladies can\u2019t wait to be back next week for more, with the promise of bringing more mums,\u201d facilitator Cath Sattler said.<\/p>\n
She said Soccer Mums seemed to have struck a chord in the region, first kicking off in Leopold and now Drysdale.<\/p>\n
\u201cA no-experience-necessary, welcoming and positive environment where women have the opportunity to try a new sport, meet new friends, have fun and get fitter,\u201d Ms Sattler said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe feedback so far from the Drysdale program has mirrored the other sessions held at nearby Leopold in 2018.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe smiles during and after the sessions say it all.\u201d<\/p>\n
Football Victoria Ambassador Foddy Kyprian, who visited the Drysdale group last week, said it was fantastic to see mums having fun, and getting fit and healthy in such an easy and relaxed atmosphere.<\/p>\n
Charlotte Burns from Drysdale Soccer Club said sometimes mums felt as though they were best placed on the sideline when it came to sport, but VicHealth and Football Federation Victoria had designed a program that encouraged her to get out there and give it a try.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter if we have experience and are already active, or if we haven\u2019t pulled on the boots in years, this inclusive and fun program caters for all levels of experience and fitness,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWednesday saw the first Drysdale Soccer Mums session. I participated along with a bunch of other beaming mums.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe practiced our skills and ended the session with a mini-game.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was fun, relaxed, and inclusive.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a bonus, we improved our fitness and soccer confidence!\u201d<\/p>\n
