WALLINGTON Primary School will host its 35th Wallington Strawberry Fair this weekend, which is set to delight both young and old.<\/p>\n
Families of the school have been busy rallying together to organise this well-known fundraiser, actively gathering auction items, sourcing great local entertainment and getting the home-made strawberry jam ready.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing a small school with just over 100 families it is crucial that everyone gets involved,\u201d Amy Boland, one of the organisers, said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe feel very proud that our fair is still going strong and that is thanks to the wonderful families we have who put in so many hours to make it happen.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is especially nice to see new families to the school getting involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year will see many of the staples of the fair like chocolate-dipped strawberries, pavlovas, pancakes with strawberries and home-made strawberry lemonade, while some amazing local talent will grace the main stage.<\/p>\n
With more than 40 market stalls lined up, you will be sure to snap up a bargain while the kids enjoy the show bags and rides or a visit to the petting zoo.<\/p>\n
The fair mascot Miss Berry Bliss will be roaming and happy to pose for photos \u2013 she is also famous for her killer dance moves, so keep an eye out.<\/p>\n
Off-road parking is available and a gold coin donation is asked upon entry.<\/p>\n
This is a non-smoking event and strictly no dogs. The Wallington Strawberry Fair 2019 is on Sunday March 3 at 610 Wallington Road between 10am and 4pm.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Ocean Grove Primary School will host its 2019 Apple Fair at Ocean Grove Park on Friday March 8, with all the fun starting at 4pm. There will be rides, food, live music, family fun and prizes.<\/p>\n
Grade 4 pupil Lara has been to the Apple Fair for a couple of years and said she loved going on the rides, getting her face painted and eating the food, while Samuel said his favourite attraction was the big yellow slide.<\/p>\n
Grade 3 Phoebe said money raised through the fair went to buy important things for the school, like a \u201chuge new gym, our iPads, new bike shed, and grade 2 classrooms\u201d.<\/p>\n
