THE Lions Club of Portarlington Drysdale will shut its Op-Shed door next month so members can focus on their monthly market.<\/p>\n
Over the years, the Op-Shed has been a great way for the Lions to raise money to give back to the community and further afield, and the closure means everything must go.<\/p>\n
A closing down sale will be held at the Lion\u2019s Op-Shed, which is located in Gellibrand Street, Portarlington on March 9.<\/p>\n
There will be bric-a-brac, china, cutlery, glassware, hand and garden tools, books, CDs and DVDs, toys, children\u2019s bikes and much more.<\/p>\n
Club president Geoff \u201cSmithy\u201d Smith said the Op- Shed had been a great way to raise money, and over the last year they made donations to Portarlington Primary School, Portarlington\u2019s Christmas Giving Program, sporting clubs and contributed to bushfire relief and hay for farmers after the devastating fires in the Western District last summer.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur club has taken on a lot more and we have to make sure members are not asked to put in more hours than is reasonable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cRunning the new Lions Port Market every month is an exciting new venture so we need all hands on deck.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also thank our community for their generous support over the years.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocals have given us items so we could raise funds.<\/p>\n
During the closing down sale, each item will cost a gold coin donation, and books are $5 per shopping bag.<\/p>\n
He said everything at the sale was priced to walk out the door.<\/p>\n
