IN ITS ninth year, the Interstate Longboard Challenge between the SOUL Longboard Club (Ocean Grove) and the South Australian Longboard club \u201cMaladjusted\u201d took place on February 16.<\/p>\n
In what is said to be the only state of origin longboard competition in Australia, the SOUL Longboard Club with 70 strong members were too much for the Maladjusted team.<\/p>\n
The day was broken into team events and age divisions.<\/p>\n
The accumulated score from those events determined that SOUL were too strong.<\/p>\n
Although there is a trophy named \u201cFlipper\u201d at the presentations that evening, SOUL president Andrew Brown was vocal in saying the camaraderie and mateship between both clubs is what really counts.<\/p>\n
Secretary and vice president of SOUL Longboard Club Chad Mclauchlan said the event proved to create an incredible day.<\/p>\n
\u201cSurf conditions were contestable all day and although the wind picked up a little, the sun continued to shine and so did the competition,\u201d contest director Brian Tucker said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSOUL would like to send out a massive thank you to the Maladjusted longboard club.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thank them for driving all this way and keeping camaraderie and mateship at the forefront of the event.\u201d<\/p>\n
SOUL would like to thank its 24 competitors that surfed on the day, and its other members that came down and helped, it made the day seamless.<\/p>\n
