FOUR photographers will next month create a unique snapshot of what goes on around the Bellarine over the span of 24 hours.<\/p>\n
Marcel Berens from Sports Media and three other local photographers – Wayne Peters, Michael Chambers and Ashlin Vijayan – came up with the idea of Bellarine 24: a coffee table book of candid photography that captures the diversity of the community.<\/p>\n
Mr Berens said he and the other photographers would set out at 3am on Easter Saturday until 3am on Easter Sunday and capture what goes on over a 24 hour period.<\/p>\n
This includes sporting clubs, community organisations, businesses and vital services like the police and ambulance.<\/p>\n
\u201cBellarine 24 is a unique opportunity to portray the good, bad and ugly through photography, creating a time capsule of the region in 2019,\u201d Mr Berens said.<\/p>\n
He believes the use of candid photography for this project is important, particularly in the era of social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo many of the images we see today are heavily planned and produced.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are keen to capture things as they really occur \u2013 from the bakers starting work at 4am, to the last of the revellers leaving the pub at closing time.\u201d<\/p>\n
