HUNDREDS of thousands of students across the globe dropped the books on Friday, March 15, to protest for government action on climate change, with many Geelong school children skipping school to swarm the streets alongside their concerned parents and grandparents.<\/p>\n
In what has been dubbed as an intergenerational issue, activists claim the Morrison Government\u2019s lack of forward thinking in relation to the planet has outraged young people, who believe they are most at risk of suffering the consequences of government inactivity.<\/p>\n
Holding signs that read \u201cthe climate is changing, why aren\u2019t we?\u201d, \u201cwe\u2019ve destroyed a land that isn\u2019t even ours\u201d, \u201cplanet before profit\u201d and \u201cthere is no planet \u2018B\u2019\u201d, students weren\u2019t shy in expressing their extreme disappointment with the nation\u2019s most powerful decision makers.<\/p>\n
Students from schools across Geelong, including Sacred Heart College and Kardinia International College, gathered outside the Geelong Town Hall and the office of Corio federal MP Richard Marles to voice their fears for the future.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor too long this government has refused to act on climate change. Only Labor will act.<\/p>\n
