THE 2019 Ready, Set, Work class at Bellarine Secondary College (BSC) has begun the harvest season with a bang.<\/p>\n
The 2019 vintage sees the school produce the largest crop of Pinot Noir since the program\u2019s inception just five years ago at 1.3 tonnes.<\/p>\n
After the harvest, the students visited Bellarine Estate winery to be a part of the next stage in the grapes\u2019 lives \u2013 the making of wine.<\/p>\n
The crop will now ferment and be made into the final product for release to the public in December.<\/p>\n
Once processed, the crop will produce more than 800 bottles of quality Ros\u00e9.<\/p>\n
Current class members raised a glass of the processed grape juice before the conversion into alcohol commenced.<\/p>\n
The students are excitedly waiting for their Shiraz crop to ripen before they repeat the process and harvest the next section of their vineyard.<\/p>\n
What was once a neglected and non-productive school vineyard now thrives with the care and attention of these Year 10 students. Ready, Set, Work is a highly regarded program, which uses the vineyard to teach students employability and life skills for the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
