A MAT full of hand-knitted and crocheted poppies will be on display at Point Lonsdale Primary School until Anzac Day eve.<\/p>\n
The Queenscliff\/Point Lonsdale RSL Sub- Branch obtained the mat which was part of the Field of Poppies used at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance on November 11, 2018.<\/p>\n
All the poppies are hand-knitted and\/or crocheted onto the mat by many hundreds of very passionate ladies who personally engaged in the world-wide phenomenon of the poppy as the Symbol for the Centenary of World War I.<\/p>\n
Lyn Berry OAM and Judi McKinna were involved in placing many thousands of poppies on display on the rolling lawns of the Shrine – for this commemoration and the coverage in the RSL \u201cMufti\u201d magazine fully covered their endeavours in this remarkable display.<\/p>\n
The mat will be on display at Point Lonsdale Primary School until Anzac Eve, and then it will be laid at the cross on the Grass Parade Ground of Fort Queenscliff – for the final service of the day – following the Dawn Service and the Point Lonsdale Service at the Alfred Deakin Cenotaph.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
