RSPCA Victoria is calling on regional Victorians to support their vision of ending cruelty to all animals by signing up to join the almost 3,000 strong army of volunteers currently working across the state.<\/p>\n
Head of operations for RSPCA Victoria, Tegan McPherson said the support of volunteers was invaluable to the organisation\u2019s ability to promote and improve animal welfare in the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are currently recruiting Animal Care volunteers to join our teams at RSPCA Wangaratta, Portland and Warrnambool, with roles available in cattery and kennels.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuccessful candidates will provide day-today care for animals, providing enrichment and support to both animals and the team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Animal Attendant Volunteers contribute to the daily operation and functionality of the shelter by providing the animals in care with a comfortable and enriching environment. This includes the provision of daily socialisation and enrichment to help prepare the animals for their forever homes.<\/p>\n
Those interested in becoming an Animal Attendant volunteer must have a general level of fitness, be comfortable handling dogs, cats and other small animals, and thrive on working in a fast-paced environment.<\/p>\n
Attention to detail, a confident personality and the ability to read basic animal body language are also preferable competencies.<\/p>\n
RSPCA Victoria provides training and support for Animal Attendant Volunteers, including Animal health and behaviour orientation training, on the job training with Animal Attendant staff and ongoing opportunity to discuss responsibilities with supervising staff members or Volunteer Engagement Officers.<\/p>\n
During the past financial year, volunteers contributed more than 248,730 hours of support, helping to care for the more than 20,000 animals that come through the doors annually.<\/p>\n
