CCTV cameras will be installed in Drysdale and St Leonards, and St Leonards will boast a new community pavilion and upgraded amenities if the Liberal party wins next month\u2019s federal election.<\/p>\n
Corangamite Liberal federal member Sarah Henderson visited both towns earlier this week to announce $70,000 to improve community safety by installing a CCTV camera network in Drysdale, and $500,000 for important work to improve the township of St Leonards, including $430,000 for a new community pavilion at the foreshore and upgraded amenities including much-needed new toilets, and $70,000 for improved community safety, including the installation of CCTV.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am so pleased to have fought for the township of St Leonards,\u201d Ms Henderson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe improvements I announced today will enable greater enjoyment of facilities for the community and visitors for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Henderson said the St Leonards Beautification Committee was formed by community members to plan for the future enjoyment of the St Leonards township.<\/p>\n
She said a re-elected Morrison Government will work with the community to finalise plans for the community pavilion and foreshore precinct.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to congratulate the entire St Leonards community, especially the Beautification Committee for working on a strong proposal for the township.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe north Bellarine is a great place to live and it is crucial that community infrastructure keeps pace with local population growth.<\/p>\n
In regards to the Drysdale funding pledge, Ms Henderson said community infrastructure, such as better lighting or CCTV, helped keep local communities safe and secure.<\/p>\n
She said previous funding of $120,000 was provided to the City of Greater Geelong to install CCTV camera networks in Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove, to keep the community safe from local crime and anti-social behaviour.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy empowering local organisations and councils to improve their security infrastructure, addressing crime and antisocial
\nbehaviour, the initiative increases perceptions of safety and fosters vibrant communities into the future,\u201d Ms Henderson said.<\/p>\n
